White Swallow Vintage Sound File Comparison

SOUNDBYTES FOR V280 AND V281

These sound files were recorded in 1/2 hr using a Zoom H2N in mp3 format at 256kbps... with the zoom sitting on my desk approx 750mm from the banjo.

The samples are deliberately short for upload-download convenience.

Both the V280 (nylon string) and V281 (steel string) are tuned to G, G modal, then CC tuning.
No capos were used so that you, the listener, have a level playing field to compare and contrast both instruments without pitch bias.

The standard tuning for A-scale banjos is usually A of course, but as these sound files demonstrate, both banjos are equally at home in G or downtuned to CC. Which do you prefer?
Enjoy!
