Superb care and finishing detail is evident in every aspect of this hand-crafted bluegrass banjo. Laurie has selected highly figured Curly Maple for the resonator and neck. His experience shows in the degree of stain; the result is rather magical - different colours appear in the resonator depending on the angle and degree of light.
Black Ebony fingerboard shows off the Dennis Eastmuir 'runic-design' Mother of Pearl inlays and Abalone motif inlay in the ebony veneer double-cut headstock. Spikes at 7th, 9th and 10th frets.
Contrasing the moody warmth of the woods is the electric blue glow of the double dipped Nickel hardware. The heart of the banjo is Laurie's F34 cast tone ring and one-piece flange producing a driving bluegrass sound with plenty of bass, gutsy midrange and ripping sustain in the highs typical of the best maple banjos. Presently fitted with Presto tailpiece and Huber bridge.
Celebrity US picker Lonnie Hoppers has contributed with his specially designed Hoppers cam tuners. Guaranteed to return to the correct pitch!

(Laurie Grundy used to live in Victoria, Australia where he gained a reputation as an advanced picker, a keen supporter of bluegrass music in general and a mentor to other bluegrass pickers (for example, Hamish Davidson and Matilda Sommers). In the bluegrass fraternity both in Australia and USA he is well respected as a 'switched-on' dude, ready to share his knowledge and to listen to other banjo makers in order to improve his banjo making. His generosity and Aussie humour has netted him friends and contacts in both countries. He exhibits each year in USA at the International Bluegrass Music Association Expo and now lives and produces banjos from Lancaster Kentucky, USA.)
